The Chocolate Museum
You can't miss it… As soon as you go out of your car, on one car park in the industrial area of Eupen, all your senses will be alert with a sweet smell of sugar. It is no use to search : you are in front of the Chocolaterie Jacques, Chocolate factory since 1896.
In one annex of the factory Jacques, the " Chocolate Museum" invites you for a trip in the kingdom of chocolate. The warm chocolate, with an exquisite smell, continually spurts out of the chocolate fontain. Your taste buds will be fulfilled by the taste of a biscuit coated with liquid chocolate. You will discover the different steps in the treatment of cocoa from the land of origin up to the expedition to the chocolate factories. Different aspects in the development of chocolate through the ages are shown : precious pieces of porcelain out of the 18th and 19th centuries, advertising objects and automatic vending machines of the end of last century, old machines to make chocolate and sweets.
Then, you can, from the top of a footbridge, watch the industrial manufacturing of sticks and bars of the chocolate maker Jacques.
At last, you can buy, if you wish, all kinds of sweets at any price in the « Chocolate House ».
The museum, the factory and the shop are reachable for disabled persons.
