Rochefort Archeopark
The lovely city of Rochefort is not only known for its famous brewery. You will find the Archeopark on arrival in the town. It was built on the remains of an impressive Gallo-Roman villa in the heart of the beautiful Belgian Ardennes.
The workshops (for individual visitors and groups) are based on research in experimental archeology. One shows the agriculture of our ancestors, how they built their houses, cooked their meals,… In short, one experiences life of prehistoric man in this extraordinary outdoor museum.
Malagne Archeopark organises workshops during July and August (and some Sundays and public holidays during low-season), where the guides wear folkloric costumes. Visitors learn how to bake bread, brew beer or forge a key using the techniques of our ancestors.
Editor’s note
The people at Archeopark Rochefort are all really passionate and able to fascinate the visitors. We advise you to taste the delicious and refreshing home-made apple juice. For the beer enthusiasts there is a brown ale with honey or a light ale with wheat, both brewed using traditional methods under the ‘la Malagne’ label. Everything takes place in a nice and relaxing atmosphere.
