Curtius Museum
The city of Liège has decided to muster its finest collections of art and historical exhibits in a magnificent building in the Mosan style. The museums of weaponry, glasswork, archaeology and religious art all rub shoulders in this same building, thus making them easier to explore.
Archaeological treasures, masterpieces of the decorative arts, paintings, sculpture, Mosan art and more: the Liège area’s whole history is recounted there by the many exhibits of various origins.
The finest pieces include Dom Rupert’s Virgin and Child, The Mystery of Apollo and the Notger Evangelistary.
The building alone is worth the journey, its modern architecture and strong colours set off to advantage by the Meuse-side landscape. The work recently carried out has turned the Curtius Museum into a pleasant, fluid setting, making it an agreeable port of call on your voyage of discovery of the Liège area’s living past.
