Line 128 - from Brewery to Castle
A train ride on the old Line 128 from Ciney to Yvoir gives you a completely different view of the valley of the river Bocq, one of the most beautiful in the Belgian Ardennes.
Taking off in Ciney, the train follows the famous Luxembourg line to Braibant, making a few stops along the way. After a long descend the old train reaches the little station in Sovet, down the valley.
Line 128 passes a viaduct through the village of Senenne, following the curves of the river Le Bocq to get to Spontin, a small village where a medieval castle, an old mill, small alleys and a playground offer a pleasant moment of relaxation.
After a short stop, the train continues its path, cutting through the hills in a 500 metre tunnel, before reaching the Dorinne-Durnal station.
This train ride along the old Line 128, by railcar or by steam train, is a great pleasure for all ages. The route between Dorinne-Durnal and Purnode deserves extra recommendation: two kilometres long, no fewer than three tunnels and five bridges. All this takes place in the breath-taking natural environment of the Belgian Ardennes.
Ciney, in the province of Namur, has a lot more to offer. Stay overnight in of of the Ardennes-Etape holiday cottages to explore the region and enjoy the Belgian Ardennes to the fullest.
