Stoneware from La Roche and Ardennes Ham: Territory and Tradition
Take a trip down memory lane and experience the Ardennes from years and years ago. Get to know the story of the stoneware from La Roche-en-Ardenne and the delicious Ardennes ham.
Get to know these typical products from the area through interactive animations in this twofold museum.
Audio guides, videos, displays,… This is not just another exhibition centre. It uses all the technology found in Wallonia’s archeoscopes and archeoforums. The Territory and Tradition Exhibition ("Grès de La Roche: Terroir and Tradition") tells a passionate story focussing on a craftsman’s expertise, their pride in a job well done and a region’s resources.
After the visit, why not visit the restaurant and enjoy a lovely plate of charcuterie, a piece of ham in mustard sauce, or the house speciality: crompîre (‘potato’ in Walloon) covered with melted cheese and served with ham, pâté,... All from La Roche.
Before leaving, you will have an opportunity to buy crockery, a carafe, a platter, or a vase made from Grès de La Roche, since the pottery studio is still active.
Treat yourself to a longer stay in the Belgian Ardennes to really get to know La Roche, with its impressive medieval castle. Ardennes-Etape selected the nicest holiday cottages in the area.
