Ardennes-Etape, 100 per cent Ardennes!Ondenval is a place in the municipality of Waimes in the East Cantons. On the Waimes territory (Dutch: Weismes) you will find the Signal de Botrange, with 694 metres the highest point in the country. The region, close to the High Fens nature park, is perfect for a great hike, summer or winter. For a visit to a delightful city in the region we can recommend Malmedy, one of the most charming spots in the Belgian Ardennes.
Waimes, in the Belgian East Cantons, is home to the Signal de Botrange, with its 694 metres the highest point in Belgium. It is the perfect departure point – or arrival point – for some great hikes through the High Fens and the Belgian Ardennes in general. Looking for a lovely city in the area? Then we can wholeheartedly recommend Malmedy, just a few minutes from Waimes.
Thirimont is a quiet little place in Waimes, at the edge of the High Fens in the Belgian East Cantons. The village offers – at an altitude of around 500 metres – a great view over the valley of the river Amblève. It is the perfect location for a hike through the Ardennes. By car you need only 15 minutes to get to Malmedy, one of the most beautiful cities in the Belgian Ardennes. St. Vith is less than half an hour away.
