Traiteur Piront

Ardennes products, combining tradition and modernity.

The quality of its Ardennes products have forged the reputation of Piront. This family-owned firm of traditional butchers was established in 1956 in Waimes. The son, Laurent, followed in his father’s footsteps. After a 2-year apprenticeship at Lenôtre in Paris, he decided to set up as a caterer.

And it has been a complete success for this man of the Ardennes, born and bred! His famous customers include the Francorchamps Grand Prix and the Spa Francofolies. "Freshness, service and quality. Those are the real specialities of the firm!" he declares. "The customer’s smile is the best reward for me."

For celebration meals and other buffets, he offers a colourful and varied range. From Mexican feasts to pasta buffets including a gourmet Ardennes menu, there’s something to suit every taste and pocket. "I like playing with colours," he adds. "Presentation is very important because we eat as much with our eyes as with our palates. What I like most? Surprising the customer, offering him a surprise menu, creating the recipe in front of him (what we call show cooking), choosing an everyday product and adapting it or combining it with a gourmet product. Such as my very special foie gras with Coca Cola!"

Without turning his back on family tradition, Laurent Piront is firmly focused on modernity and very current techniques. Following recent training in Spain, at El Bulli, the restaurant where nouvelle cuisine reigns supreme, he’s ready to have a go at fusion cuisine, that is blending the cuisines of different countries, from the closest to the most exotic… E.g. carpaccio of Ardennes ham (Italy married with the Ardennes). With a fascination for modern cooking and preparation methods, he’s very keen to adapt them to our good old Ardennes produce.

Passion and expertise are the key words that define the work of the Piront family firm. You’ll enjoy an inventive and stylish cuisine, which is true to the original flavours of the produce of our great Ardennes traditions.
