Caves of Lorette

Welcome into the magnificent underground. The fascinating Lorette Cave in Rochefort leaves no one untouched.

"A few minutes before the start of our visit that will take us on a marvellous adventure"

The guide gathers his affairs, puts on a vest and announces the departure. All together we leave the gathering place of the cave (where souvenirs, touristic information and a labo for the research of the movements of the tectonic plates are exposed) and we walk to some bushes some hundred metres further. No one who believed that our adventure would start here.

As we walk and enter deeper into the Eartch, the daylight disappears and makes place for a pith-darkness and a diffuse artificial light installed by humans to enable their passage. You might think that when you've seen one cave, you’ve seen them all, it’s all about stalactites, stalagmites, rocks and that’s it. Well, not really, this cave is different!

The landscape of this cave is completely different and the water (and especially the erosion it causes) still has some surprises for us: flooded rooms, narrow passages and impressive differences in altitude. You’ll be in mid of breath-taking and above all unique decors!"

This place is a must see and when you’re at the suface of Earth again you can relax in a holiday home from Ardennes-Etape for a well deserved rest!
