Aquarium-Museum of Liege

Come and discover the water world in the centre of Liege. People of all ages will be impressed by this colourful world.

Liege Aquarium-Museum

Located on the river banks of the Meuse in Liege, the Aquarium-Museum offers everyone an exciting day filled with scientific discoveries.

  • Do you want to discover the fauna of the world beneath the water surface?

The Aquarium lets you dive into the oceans, seas, lakes and rivers of the world, without getting yourself wet. 46 aquariums harbour over 2,500 species: piranhas, electrical fish, blind tetras, Australian stonefish, catsharks, pikes, eels and many other types of fish.

In the "Coral reefs and sharks" section, you can admire the blacktip shark, clown fish in their anemones, surgeon fish and many more inhabitants of the Great Barrier Reef.

You can also discover the new exposition, "Corals in the tropics!" that presents inert corals, where you can see living corals in shiny colours. Interactive boundaries, maquettes, drawings... let the visitors understand what corals are, where they live, what they eat, how a reef is constructed, which threats they face...

  • Do you want to know more about the animal kingdom?

In the Museum of more than 1000 m², you will find out a lot more about the richness and the beauty of the animal kingdom: more than 20,000 different animals, mounted or as a well-preserved skeleton, from all continents: fleas, whale, dolphin, koala, gorilla, elephant, anaconda, tarantula, squid, shellfish, animals of our region and many birds.

  • Have you heard about the Blaschka?

In a brandnew section of the museum, you can admire the glass models of  invertebrate marine animals, that have been created over a hundred years ago by master glass blowers Leopold and Rudolph Blaschka. Used as didactic objects yesterday, while being true pieces of art today.

  • NEW

NEW AQUARIUM 'Tropical lagoon' in the "Coral reefs and sharks" section, created in the context of the 'Light on the Lagoon' exposition.

Are you going to spend a day in Liege? Are you in the mood to discover the environment? In that case, combine your visit to the Aquarium-Museum with another toeristic or cultural institution nearby: the Archeoforum, the House of Metalworking...

Enjoy a spectacular day before returning to your Ardennes-Etape holiday home in the vicinity of Liege!
